Advanced Downhole Petrophysics develops oil & gas operating companies and service companies need to understand permeability – a critical parameter in understanding how hydrocarbons will flow through a rock formation. Magnetic susceptibility is a natural property of all minerals, and measurements can easily be made from cores, plugs or drill cuttings. The process is inexpensive, rapid, non-destructive, non-nuclear and environmentally friendly. MagPI® is a service whereby magnetic susceptibility readings are made, then converted into estimates of clay volumes, and hence permeability.
